President's Message

It is the end of 2019. The SD Prowlers are entering our 73rd year driving souped up old Fords and enjoying every minute of life.

The Prowlers hot rod club have chosen a new president so it is time to begin another chapter in this book.

The roaring 20s are just around the corner. Look forward to more traditional hot rod fun!

ps: Hey we have a very nice 2020 calendar available.  There are three pages dedicated to our history and the rest are pictures of our contemporary "driven daily" hot rods...all on nice paper and excellent photography of course. The cost is $10 . If we have to take it to the Post Office add $5. If interested email jimrinob@cox.net.

Prowler Cars in the Movies

Prowler cars are required to be Fords.  Several of the Prowler's cars have been in movies.  One notable car is shown below.  This Prowler car is actually an old 20's Dodge roadster cab that Joe Pironello and Bob Smith dragged in from the desert.  It so closely resembled a Model T Ford nobody said anything and Joe made it into the cutting edge street roadster of it's time.

It was featured in the movie "The Lively Set" in 1964 which featured James Darrin, Pamela Tiffin, Doug McClure and Joanie Sommers.

So Click here and see the movie posters and photos and take ride back in time in time when things were simpler, and cars were 'hotter', riding in the restored roadster as it buzzes through the neighborhood of it's new home.

Then enjoy another nice pictorial of it's movie history and the San Diego Prowlers!  Click here
