President's Message

It is the end of 2019. The SD Prowlers are entering our 73rd year driving souped up old Fords and enjoying every minute of life.

The Prowlers hot rod club have chosen a new president so it is time to begin another chapter in this book.

The roaring 20s are just around the corner. Look forward to more traditional hot rod fun!

ps: Hey we have a very nice 2020 calendar available.  There are three pages dedicated to our history and the rest are pictures of our contemporary "driven daily" hot rods...all on nice paper and excellent photography of course. The cost is $10 . If we have to take it to the Post Office add $5. If interested email jimrinob@cox.net.

Fred Castro Passes Away

It's with sad heart, we have to report the loss a true friend and hot rodder Fred "Chico" Castro.  Fred passed on Aug. 7th, 2008.  Fred was only a young 66 years of age.  Fred was a member of the San Diego Prowlers Hot Rod Club since 1962, and he held the member number of 70.  "Chico" was the first and only member to hold a "Life Membership" of our club!

Freddie was a "drive 'em" kind of guy, and was seen all over Southern California in his "T" Bucket or 1940 std. coupe.  He attended almost all the Father's Day L.A. Roadster Shows in his "T"; only missing the last few years!
Only the best of the fun times and memories will be remembered with this great guy in our greatest of hobbies!

This is a shot of when Fred was presented with a plaque recognizing him as the first "Life Time Member".

Check Google Maps for Ventua Cove. This is next door to the Bahia Hotel and a 1/4 mile from the historic roller coaster and ocean.

The 65th Prowlers Picnic and Ol' Timers Reunion was October 6, 2012 at Ventura Cove in San Diego's Mission Bay.  This a new venue for our annual picnic and the first venture from San Diego's east county in several years.  It was well received by everyone.

Our commemorative 66th Annual Picnic t-shirt artwork by Bob McCoy.

After the party was over and we were packed up we took time out for a rare group shot.  A fitting end to a great day!
